WHY NOW
Finance in Sri Lanka is being rebuilt in public
Payments moved to real time. Banking opened up through APIs. Credit decisions started leaning on models rather than ledgers. Each of those shifts happened inside a different institution, and the people making them rarely got to compare notes in the same room.
Finnovate Summit exists to close that gap for one morning a year. It puts academics, regulators, bankers, founders and engineers on the same stage — then puts final-year students in the audience, close enough to ask the follow-up question.
The people who will run this sector in ten years are sitting in lecture halls today. The fastest way to prepare them is to let them listen in.

Vision
A finance industry where the distance between a lecture hall and a boardroom is a single conversation, and where local expertise is built rather than imported.
Impact
Every seat is free and every session is open to the whole room. Students leave with names they can contact; industry leaves with questions they had not been asked before.

One track, no clashes
Everything happens in one room, so nobody spends the morning choosing between two sessions they wanted.

Two languages
The first panel runs in English, the second in Sinhala — because the audience does not think in one language, and neither does the industry.

Students on the floor
Final-year and postgraduate students sit in the same room as the panellists, not in an overflow hall.

Time given to questions
Sessions are built to leave room for the follow-up, which is usually where the useful part starts.

Nothing to pay
Attendance costs nothing. Sponsors cover the venue, the refreshments and every seat in the room.
